Thread Lift The New Non Surgical Facelift Procedure

The Evolution of Thread Lift:

Have you ever look at yourself in the mirror and pulled up your cheeks, eyebrows, forehead, or jowls and wished that it would stay up there? Now there is a simple non-surgical procedure that makes it possible. A thread lift is a newish technique for lifting and tightening the sagging facial skin without undergoing surgery. FDA approved the new non-surgical variation of the traditional surgical thread lift in 2015. This procedure utilises the temporary and absorbable sutures to achieve the results of the traditional facelift without undergoing any major surgery or downtime associated with it.

The traditional surgical thread lift came out in the late 90’s and was performed until the mid-2000s. The procedure fell out about 10 years ago, but two recent non-surgical forms of the procedure utilising the new technology namely, Nova Threads and Silhouette Instalift, brought the thread lift back into the spotlight. The sudden boost in the resurgence and popularity of the thread lift may be perplexing for some people. Doctors who perform the procedure say that the new technology, which does not require the surgery, and the fact that it can be performed in an hour are the two big reasons for the increased popularity of the thread lift as a lifting procedure.

How does it work?

A thread lift is exactly what it sounds like, it uses threads made from biodegradable polypropylene, a material which has been used inside the body for stitching wounds for decades. These threads are designed with dimensional barbs, or cogs that attach to the epidermal tissues, lifting, contouring and suspending the facial muscles. The sutures are inserted into the skin and they instantly tighten and lift the problematic areas like the volume fewer cheeks, jowls, lips and neck. The threads also kick off the low level of inflammation which stimulates the collagen synthesis n the facial muscles. The resultant lift produces a relaxed and a fresh appearance while enhancing the natural contours of the face. This procedure cannot replace the conventional facelift; rather it offers the patients a minimally invasive approach.

An ideal patient for the thread lift has moderately drooping of the brows, face, and neck. The best candidate for this procedures is men and women who are in their 30s to 60s who want a more youthful appearance but are not looking for a drastic change in their facial contours. A thread lift is used for repositioning sagging cheeks, lifting sagging eyebrows, and adjusting asymmetric brows and face.

Thread lift Vs. Dermal Fillers:

So, how does the thread lift measures against the popular dermal fillers? A thread lift takes as much time as a dermal filler procedures. The recovery time is one to two days. The results will vary and can last anywhere from 18 months to a few years. Additional threads can be used later to maintain the results. Because the embedded cones in the threads continue to stimulate collagen synthesis, the results improve over the period of time. But thread lifts won’t be replacing dermal fillers; the reason is that thread lifts are used in the combination with dermal fillers, lasers and other non-surgical procedures to create lasting results. The results are expected to last several years when used in combination with other treatments.
